Fernando A. Almaraz practices public agency, business litigation, and bankruptcy law, providing counsel and litigation services to public agencies, businesses, and creditors.
Background
Fernando A. Almaraz is an Associate in the firm’s Public Agency, Business Litigation, and Bankruptcy Departments. He provides transactional and litigation expertise to public agencies, businesses, and individuals on matters involving public agency governance and compliance, contract disputes, creditor rights, agribusiness, and water law. In his bankruptcy practice, Fernando guides creditors through bankruptcy proceedings, counseling them in litigation on claims, motions, and recovery strategies, with experience in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 12 cases.
Fernando is actively involved in the legal community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Fresno County Young Lawyers Association, on the Board of Directors for the Ag Lenders Society of California, participates as a mentor in the annual McGeorge School of Law Mentorship Program, and serves as a judge in the regional moot court and mock trial competitions. Additionally, he has lectured on the history, judicial philosophies, and social attitudes of the United States Supreme Court at his law school alma mater.
Prior to attending law school, Fernando was a financial analyst and auditor for E. & J. Gallo Winery. During law school, Fernando externed with the California Farm Bureau Federation and was a member of the McGeorge Moot Court Honors Board.
Fernando is a native of Merced and in his spare time enjoys reading about American history. Fernando is fluent in Spanish.
